Converting DC voltage to AC voltage is one of the most challenging aspects of small-scale electronic projects. Taking AC to DC is a common occurrence, but converting DC to AC requires an inverter circuit. Inverters or DC/AC kits are essentially switching devices for 12V, 24V, 48V, 120V, 220V, 230V, or 240V circuits with a 50Hz/60Hz supply frequency. In most applications, a DC/AC converter is utilized to convert a DC power supply like in modern EVs and solar power systems.

There are certain limitations to consider when using a DC to AC converter. In most cases, biasing diodes are needed to reduce cross over distortion from the switching transistors. Also, the transistors may reduce the circuit’s efficiency to some degree.
